We arrived safely and an hour early in Auckland, Friday the 15th at 0410, Auckland time. The photo shows Rocco and Rosie (with traveling companions) waiting patiently at the San Francisco airport. They had not bothered to purchase tickets and were fortunate not to have been discovered in Steve and Marie’s carry-on luggage. The north island has been in a drought for much of their summer, so it was no surprise that it was raining when we arrived and rained off and on for much of the day.
Finding internet connectivity is not going to be as convenient as I had hoped. An internet cafĂ© within walking distance of brother John’s is apparently no longer in business. So I can go to Sandra’s and plug in or go to some other internet cafes in Takapuna (about a 10 minute drive). Monday we head to Kelly’s Bay and the batch (fishing cabin) for some snapper fishing after which we will travel to Kaitaia to visit Rob and Rachel on the farm. We are hoping to make a side trip to the Bay of Islands, coming or going, to take a cruise on a friend of a friend’s yacht. It’s good to have friends who have friends (with yachts).
Today has dawned bright and clear and the ladies are going “shopping” and I will tag along to find the internet. Films at eleven.

So good to talk to you today. Skype is awesome! We'll get our video fixed and keep the sound turned up so we can talk to you and see you. Glad the trip was great and that you arrived early even. The dogs are just fine. Didn't see the cats today but will be back over there tomorrow or Sunday for another visit. We love you! xoxoxo Have fun at Kelly's Bay. So happy you know friends who know friends in high places, you high rollers :-). Have fun!
Hooray! You are off and running. Mom has been asking if any news from you, and she will read your blog tomorrow a.m. We are going to the Met opera showing in the morning. All is well, good weather for walks. We'll look forward to hearing from you whenever you are able to post your blog.
Hi there! You made it safely there and we made it safely back! I almost didn't make it through customs as they threatened to send me back :)
Love you!
Enjoyed reading your comments...before you even left on the trip. Sounds like you have lots on the agenda of "to dos". Looking forward to seeing the pictures and reading more about the trip. Sounds like an awesome experience. So happy for you. Blessings and love - enjoy for all of us.
Where will you be on Mom's birthday?
I can just picture you, running around NZ checking for wireless internet. You must be busy having fun since you haven't posted a blog since 2-15.
Larry has claimed your office, and is enjoying the nearby attraction of my office and candy bucket. I'm sure you're interested in the latest Special Fund issues but - hey - you're on vacation...forget about it!
I don't need to say "have fun" because Im sure you are. Hello to Marie, Rocco and Rosie...do you have to get 4 glasses with that bottle of NZ wine?
